Irrigation circles
Centre-pivot irrigation on the larger farms produces circular fields. These geometric shapes contrast with the straighter lines of roads and field boundaries.

Mpongwe Map Poster & Print
Mpongwe is the administrative centre of a district in Zambia's Copperbelt Province, but unlike the mining cities of the province it is defined by agriculture. On a map the town is small and open. A few roads cross a modest built area, and large rectangular farm plots stretch out into the surrounding woodland.
The district is one of Zambia's notable farming areas, with large commercial farms growing crops such as wheat and soya alongside smallholder agriculture. From above, the geometry of these farms is striking: straight edges, circular irrigated fields and long farm roads, set against the irregular, darker texture of the bush.
The town itself is quiet, a service centre for the farms and villages around it. A Mpongwe map poster reflects that balance. A small cluster of streets sits at the heart, and the wide, patterned farmland fills the rest of the frame, a combination that works especially well in the lighter Paper and Sand styles.

Small town core
Mpongwe's own streets form a compact cluster of administrative buildings, shops and housing. It is a modest focal point at the centre of the composition.
Woodland and bush
Between the farms, remaining woodland and streams create an irregular natural texture. It contrasts with the orderly agricultural parcels around them.
