The harbour bay
A long inlet reaches into the heart of the town. On the map it is the defining shape, with the centre gathered around its inner end.

Örnsköldsvik Map Poster & Print
Örnsköldsvik sits at the head of a long, sheltered bay on the Gulf of Bothnia, on the edge of Sweden's High Coast. From above, the centre is a compact grid by the water. Streets climb steeply up the hillsides behind it, and wooded heights enclose the town on three sides. Islands and inlets break up the coastline beyond the harbour, and roads follow the curve of the shore.
The town is famous in Sweden for ice hockey. The club MoDo comes from here, as do several players who reached the NHL, among them Peter Forsberg. The Varvsberget ski jump stands on a hill right in the town, and Örnsköldsvik hosted the first Winter Paralympics in 1976.
An Örnsköldsvik map poster is shaped by the bay. The water pushes deep into the land and the town wraps around it, so the print gains a strong central form. Dense streets by the harbour thin out into curving roads on the slopes, and the ragged coastline adds detail along the edges.

Hillside streets
Roads climb and curve up the wooded slopes behind the centre. They form looping patterns that contrast with the grid by the water.
High Coast shoreline
Beyond the bay the coast breaks into islands, points and inlets. It gives the edges of the map an intricate, fragmented outline.
