Parramatta River
The river threads through the city centre in slow bends, the upper reach of the waterway that eventually opens into Sydney Harbour. It is the backbone of the map.

Parramatta Map Poster & Print
Parramatta lies about twenty kilometres west of central Sydney, at the point where the Parramatta River narrows and stops being navigable. The river winds through the centre from west to east, and the city's commercial core sits on its southern bank in a tight rectangular grid. Across the river, and along its bends to the west, residential streets spread out in a looser pattern.
Founded in 1788, only months after Sydney Cove, Parramatta is one of the oldest European settlements in Australia. Parramatta Park, at the western edge of the centre, contains Old Government House, which is part of the UNESCO-listed Australian Convict Sites. The park's large, irregular green shape stands out sharply against the regular streets next to it.
A Parramatta map poster captures a place with two layers. One is the early colonial plan, with streets set out in straight lines near the river. The other is the tall modern business district that has grown on top of it. The river's curves give the grid a softer frame, and the park adds a calm open area to the composition.

Parramatta Park
A large parkland on the western edge of the centre, home to Old Government House. On the map it is a broad open area bordered by winding paths.
Colonial grid
The central streets follow an early rectangular plan laid out close to the river. That regularity contrasts with the curving suburban roads that surround it.

Neden Parramatta
Anlam taşıyan bir harita
Parramatta is a home, a workplace and a starting point for many people in Western Sydney. A map of its river and grid gives them a personal, recognisable picture of a place that often sits in the background of Sydney's image.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a street you lived on or a year that mattered to you, and choose from five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
