Wide Xingu
Near its mouth, the Xingu spreads several kilometres across. On the map it forms a large, open shape that dominates the composition.

Porto de Moz Map Poster & Print
Porto de Moz sits on the bank of the Xingu River in the Brazilian state of Pará, not far from where the Xingu joins the Amazon. The river here is broad and slow, more like a lake than a stream, and much of the municipality is forest, floodplain and waterways. Travel in the region still depends heavily on boats.
The town itself is modest, with a grid of streets extending inland from the waterfront. Much of the surrounding land is protected. The Verde para Sempre extractive reserve, one of the largest of its kind in Brazil, lies within the municipality and supports communities that make their living from the forest and rivers.
A Porto de Moz map poster is shaped above all by water. The Xingu fills much of the frame as a wide, calm expanse, and the town's compact street pattern sits along its edge. In black and white, the contrast between a small settlement and an enormous river tells the whole story without a single label.

Waterfront grid
Streets run back from the riverbank in a regular pattern. The waterfront is the town's main edge and the place where boats arrive.
Forest and floodplain
Beyond the town, the land is mostly forest, creeks and seasonally flooded ground. It appears as open space crossed by a few thin tracks and waterways.
