The Yenisei
One of Siberia's great rivers flows past the town in a wide, confident band. It is the strongest single element in the composition and sets the scale for everything else.

Sayanogorsk Map Poster & Print
Sayanogorsk sits on the Yenisei River in the south of Khakassia, where the steppe meets the first ridges of the Western Sayan. The town was built in the second half of the twentieth century, and its map shows it: large residential blocks laid out in regular microdistricts, broad avenues between them, and a clear separation between housing and the industrial zone.
Upstream, the Yenisei enters a narrow mountain gorge. There the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric station, the most powerful in Russia, holds back a long reservoir. The dam and its power explain much of why the town exists, including the large aluminium smelter on the plain nearby. On the map, the river is the dominant line, broad and decisive.
A Sayanogorsk map poster captures an unusual kind of city, one designed from scratch rather than grown over centuries. The geometric blocks, the sweep of the Yenisei and the mountains closing in from the south make a composition that is both orderly and dramatic, well suited to a stark black-and-white print.

Microdistrict layout
Housing is arranged in large, regular blocks separated by avenues and green space, a textbook example of late Soviet planning seen from above.
Toward the Sayan
To the south the land rises into mountains, and the river narrows into the gorge that leads to the Sayano-Shushenskaya dam.

Neden Sayanogorsk
Anlam taşıyan bir harita
Many families came to Sayanogorsk to build the dam and the smelter, and their children have since scattered across Russia and beyond. A map of the town is a reminder of where that story began, drawn with clarity rather than nostalgia.
You can add a title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps marking a year of arrival, and choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Get HD digital files for $9 or a matte printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
