Sinsheim is in the Kraichgau, the gentle hill country between the Odenwald and the Black Forest, in northern Baden-Württemberg. On a map the town follows the narrow Elsenz valley. The compact old centre sits by the stream, newer districts climb the slopes on either side, and the villages that belong to the town are scattered across farmland between low wooded ridges.
The A6 autobahn runs past the town, and next to it are Sinsheim's two best-known landmarks. The Auto & Technik Museum has a large collection of cars, locomotives and aircraft, including a Concorde and a Tupolev Tu-144 mounted on its roof. Close by is the stadium where TSG Hoffenheim plays its Bundesliga home games, which brings big crowds to a town of this size.
