Tauramena Map Poster & Print
Tauramena is a municipality in Casanare, in the Colombian Llanos, where the eastern ranges of the Andes give way to the vast flat plains of the Orinoco basin. On the map the town is a compact grid of blocks. The land around it shifts from folded foothills on one side to broad, open savanna crossed by rivers on the other.
The municipality is closely tied to the oil industry. The Cusiana field, discovered in the late 1980s and one of the most important in Colombia's history, lies within its territory, and the roads and facilities that came with it are now part of the regional map. Cattle ranching, the traditional economy of the Llanos, continues across the plains.
A Tauramena map poster brings together the regular town grid, the rivers flowing out of the mountains and the long straight roads of the plains. It suits people from Casanare, oil workers who spent years here, and anyone drawn to the Llanos, where the scale of the landscape makes even a small town stand out clearly.

Foothill rivers
Rivers coming down from the Andes cross the territory in braided, shifting channels, drawing loose, lively lines across the flat ground.
Plains roads
Long, mostly straight roads run out across the Llanos to ranches, villages and oil facilities, emphasising how open the plains are.
