Seafront fort
The fort stands near the shore at the edge of the old town, a solid footprint among small plots, marking the place where the colonial pepper trade was organised.

Tellicherry Map Poster & Print
Tellicherry, now officially Thalassery, lies on the Malabar Coast of northern Kerala, its western edge formed by the Arabian Sea. From above, the town is a tight cluster of lanes behind the shoreline, loosening into palm-shaded residential roads and small streams further inland. The coastline itself is uneven, with rocky points and short beaches breaking the line of the sea.
The town grew around trade. The British East India Company built a fort here in the early eighteenth century, and Tellicherry became closely associated with the pepper grown in the hills behind it, a name still used for a grade of black pepper. It is also often credited with an early role in Indian cricket and in the history of the circus in Kerala.
A Tellicherry map poster shows how compact the old centre is compared with the spread of settlement around it. The fort and the waterfront sit close together, and the main roads lead north and south along the coast, so the map reads as a narrow coastal town rather than a sprawling city.

Arabian Sea edge
The whole western side of the map is open water, with a coastline of small headlands and beaches that gives the composition a clear but uneven boundary.
Coastal road
The main roads follow the coast north and south, linking the town to its neighbours and forming the spine from which the older lanes branch inland.
