Lake Valdai shoreline
The lake's indented outline, with bays, points and islands, takes up much of the frame and gives the poster its strongest shapes.

Valday Map Poster & Print
Valday stands on the western shore of Lake Valdai in Novgorod Oblast, in the hill country known as the Valdai Hills. The town's streets follow the curve of the lake, with a waterfront edge on one side and a regular pattern of blocks behind it. On a map, the long, irregular outline of the lake dominates, and the town reads as a band of streets wrapped around its bay.
Across the water, on an island in the lake, stands the Iversky Monastery, founded in the seventeenth century and one of the region's best-known landmarks. The wider area forms part of Valdai National Park, a landscape of lakes and forest. Valday was also long known for its bells, especially the small harness bells once made here and associated with Russian troikas.
A Valday map poster brings together the town grid, the lakeshore and the islands scattered across the water. The lake's many inlets and peninsulas create a complex outline that looks striking in monochrome, and the town becomes a finely drawn edge along it, a place defined by the lake as much as by its streets.

Iversky Monastery island
The monastery founded in the seventeenth century stands on an island in the lake, visible on the map as a small landmass facing the town.
Lakeside street grid
Behind the waterfront, the town's streets form a fairly regular pattern of blocks, contrasting with the organic curves of the shoreline beside them.

Neden Valday
Anlam taşıyan bir harita
Valday is a place people remember for the lake, the monastery and summer days in the Valdai Hills. A map poster keeps that memory in a calm, graphic form, whether for someone born there or for a traveller who stopped on the road between Moscow and St Petersburg.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits a lake town especially well.
