Central square
The town is organised around a central plaza, and the surrounding grid of short blocks gives the middle of the map its densest, most regular texture.

Xalatlaco Map Poster & Print
Xalatlaco sits high in the State of Mexico, on the uplands between the Toluca Valley and the mountains that separate it from Mexico City. From above, the town reads as a tight cluster of blocks around a central square, with streets thinning out into long, narrow agricultural plots before the land rises and the fields give way to forest.
The contrast is what makes the map interesting. At the centre, short streets meet at near-right angles and form small, dense blocks. Further out, lanes follow field boundaries and the lie of the land, bending and splitting as they head uphill. On paper, the lines look almost like woven fabric fading into open space.
A Xalatlaco map poster keeps that transition in view: the dense core, the ring of cultivated land and the empty margins where the slopes begin. In black and white, without the distraction of colour, the pattern of settlement in a mountain municipality becomes the whole subject, and it is a quietly specific one.

Field patterns
Beyond the core, long strip-like plots and farm tracks spread outward, producing fine parallel lines that contrast with the compact streets of the town.
Forested uplands
The municipality climbs toward wooded mountain terrain, where the street network stops and the map opens into broad, quiet areas of white space.
