Tundzha River
The river loops through Yambol in broad curves, and its channels and islands create the most distinctive shapes on the map, dividing the older centre from districts across the water.

Yambol Map Poster & Print
Yambol lies on the Tundzha River in the Upper Thracian lowland, and the river shapes the whole town. From above, the water swings through in wide curves, with wooded parkland along its banks and on islands in the channel. The centre sits close to the river, and newer residential districts spread outward on flat ground in a looser grid of blocks and boulevards.
Yambol's centre keeps a sixteenth-century covered market, the Bezisten, one of the few buildings of its kind left in Bulgaria, as well as the Eski Mosque from the Ottoman period. Just outside town are the remains of Kabile, an ancient Thracian settlement later used by the Macedonians and Romans, now an archaeological reserve on the plain north of the modern town.
A Yambol map poster puts the Tundzha at the heart of the picture. The river's curves, the green bands along its banks and the city blocks on both sides make for a composition that feels balanced. Printed in black and white, it shows how a river town grew around a single bend of water.

Riverside parks
Wooded parkland follows the Tundzha through town, forming a continuous green corridor that appears as open space between the denser street blocks.
Compact old centre
The central streets near the Bezisten and the mosque are shorter and more irregular than the planned blocks further out, marking the town's older core.
