Zacoalco de Torres Map Poster & Print
Zacoalco de Torres lies south of Guadalajara in Jalisco, at the margin of a broad basin once occupied by the Laguna de Zacoalco. Much of that lake has become a seasonal, largely dry flat, and on the map the difference between the compact town and the pale open expanse beside it is the first thing you notice.
The centre follows the pattern common to many Mexican towns: a grid of blocks around a main square and church, with streets extending outward until they meet farmland. Hills rise around the basin, and roads climb out of it toward neighbouring towns. Zacoalco is widely known for its equipales, the traditional chairs of wood and leather made in local workshops.
A Zacoalco de Torres map poster places a regular colonial-style grid against the open floor of the old lake basin. In black and white, the town reads as a dense block of streets with the landscape spreading out around it. It is a thoughtful choice for anyone with family ties to the town or to the lake country south of Guadalajara.
