Ahrensburg lies just beyond Hamburg's northeastern edge in the Stormarn district, and U-Bahn trains run all the way out to it. Most of the town is a leafy commuter place of detached houses and curving residential streets. At its heart, though, sits a piece of deliberate planning that stands out clearly on any map.
Schloss Ahrensburg, a white Renaissance manor house from the late sixteenth century, stands in parkland on the town's southern side.
