The land around the town is largely flat and open, divided into fields and crossed by rural roads. From above, the town forms a compact block of streets set squarely in this landscape, with fields reaching right up to its edges.
The street pattern mixes a denser core with more regular blocks on the outskirts, where newer houses were built along straighter roads.
