Bad Dürkheim sits where the wooded hills of the Palatinate Forest meet the flat Rhine plain, along the German Wine Route. On a map the town has an unmistakable edge: to the west the streets give way to forest and steep valleys, while to the east vineyards cover the land in long parallel strips.
