Blanes sits where the Costa Brava begins. Traditionally, the coast is said to start at Sa Palomera, a rocky outcrop that stands out into the sea from the town's beach. To the south, the Tordera river reaches the sea across a flat, open delta, where the land turns into fields and campsites.
