Breaza lies in the Subcarpathian hills of Prahova County, on high ground above the valley that carries the main road and railway between Bucharest and Brașov. Rather than gathering around a single square, the town is scattered over several hills and terraces. For more than a century Breaza has been known as a climatic resort, valued for its clean air and mild summers, and many of its streets lead to villas and houses set among gardens.
