Brøndbyvester is one of the original villages of Brøndby Municipality, west of Copenhagen. From above you can still find the old village. It is a small group of irregular streets around the medieval church, surrounded by the much larger and more regular pattern of twentieth-century suburban development that now fills the area.
Housing areas of different types spread out around the old core. There are rows of detached houses, planned terraced estates and larger blocks, and each forms its own recognisable pattern on the map. Major roads and motorways pass through the wider municipality, and green corridors, sports grounds and lakes provide open space between districts. The municipality is also home to Brøndby IF, whose stadium is well known across Danish football.
