Burjassot sits immediately north of Valencia, so close that its streets run directly into the city's own. On a map it shows as a tightly packed urban fabric of narrow blocks, among the most densely built municipalities in the area, with the old centre on slightly higher ground. At its heart are the Silos de Burjassot, a set of underground granaries from the sixteenth century beneath a large open esplanade, used for centuries to store wheat for Valencia.
