Irrigation lattice
Long, straight canals and roads divide the oasis into regular fields, creating a fine grid-like texture across most of the map.

Buzhake Map Poster & Print
Buzhake lies in the Hotan oasis in southern Xinjiang, at the southern edge of the Taklamakan Desert and in the shadow of the Kunlun Mountains. The oasis exists because of rivers flowing down from the mountains, and its map shows that clearly: a dense patchwork of fields, villages and canals, sharply bounded by the empty desert beyond.
Within the oasis, the pattern is remarkably regular. Roads and irrigation channels run in long lines, often lined with poplars, dividing the land into orderly plots, while houses and villages cluster along them. The Hotan area is famous for its jade, carried down from the mountains by its rivers, and for a long history as a stop on the southern Silk Road.
A Buzhake map poster turns the oasis into a striking image. In monochrome, the fine lattice of roads and canals looks almost woven, and wherever the frame reaches the edge of cultivation, the pattern stops and blank desert takes over. It is a portrait of how water shapes settlement.

Desert edge
Where irrigation ends, the detail vanishes abruptly into open desert, giving the poster a sharp and dramatic boundary.
Village strings
Houses and farmsteads line the roads and channels in long rows, forming beaded lines through the fields rather than compact blocks.

A map of Buzhake speaks to anyone connected to the Hotan oasis, whether as a family home or a memory of travel along the old southern Silk Road. The pattern is graphic enough to hang as a piece of art.
