Te mape
Gaborone was chosen as the capital of Botswana shortly before independence in 1966 and was built largely from scratch. Its plan centres on the Government Enclave and the pedestrian Main Mall, which runs from the parliament buildings as a central spine. Around this core, residential districts spread out on curving roads and numbered plots, a pattern that makes the city easy to read from above.
The Gaborone Dam lies south of the city, and its reservoir is the largest area of water on the map. Kgale Hill and other rocky outcrops rise on the southwestern side. The Notwane River, dammed to create the reservoir, continues past the eastern side of the city, and the border with South Africa is only a short distance away. Together these features frame the city on several sides.
Since independence, Gaborone has grown from a small administrative town into one of the fastest-growing cities in the region, adding new suburbs, business districts and ring roads. A Gaborone map poster shows both the original planned heart and the wider layers that followed, with the dam and hills giving the composition a natural edge.

The reservoir south of the city spreads across a broad basin. It supplies the capital with water and forms a large, irregular shape on the print.
A rocky hill on the southwestern outskirts, popular with walkers, breaks up the flat surroundings and marks the point where the city meets open bushveld.

Kaia a Gaborone
Gaborone suits people who have lived, studied or worked in Botswana's capital, and anyone who appreciates a city designed with a clear idea. The planned centre and natural edges give the print a balanced, orderly look.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, for example with a neighbourhood or the year you arrived. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, each suited to a different room.
