Leonberg lies about 15 kilometres west of Stuttgart, on the edge of the Glems valley. Its historic core sits on a spur of higher ground. Two facts usually come up when people talk about Leonberg. It gave its name to the Leonberger, a large dog breed developed here in the nineteenth century.
