Morlaix lies in north-western Brittany, at the point where small rivers meet and continue as a tidal estuary toward the Bay of Morlaix. The town sits deep in a narrow valley, and on a map its streets squeeze along the valley floor before climbing the steep sides in winding lanes and stairways.
