Of is on the eastern Black Sea coast in Trabzon Province, where a river valley opens onto the sea. From above, the town forms a narrow band along the shore. The coastal highway runs along its seaward edge, and the land rises sharply behind, so the streets spread along the coast and up into the mouth of the valley instead of deep inland.
The hills around Of are covered in tea gardens, typical of this rainy coast. The valley road inland leads toward Çaykara and the mountain lake of Uzungöl, a well-known destination in the region.
