Old Jamestown is an unincorporated community in the far north of St. Louis County, Missouri, where the county narrows toward the meeting of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers. Its map is largely residential. Subdivision streets curve across rolling, wooded ground, and a handful of main roads carry traffic toward the rest of the metropolitan area.
Unlike the older inner suburbs with their tight street grids, much of Old Jamestown developed in the later twentieth century, and its layout shows it: loops, cul-de-sacs and long connector roads fitted to the terrain. Woodland and open space remain between the neighbourhoods, so the built area appears as a series of clusters instead of one continuous block.
To the north, the land drops toward the broad floodplain of the Missouri River, where fields and open bottomland replace houses.
