Peruíbe lies on the southern coast of São Paulo state. On a map its main feature is a long, almost straight beach facing the Atlantic. Behind it, the town is laid out in a regular grid of streets that runs parallel to the sand for many kilometres. Rivers wind through the lowland at its back, and the steep, forested hills of the Serra do Mar rise inland.
To the south the town borders the Juréia-Itatins Ecological Station, one of the largest protected stretches of Atlantic Forest on the state's coast. Peruíbe is also known for its black mud, a mineral clay used in traditional therapies that draws visitors to the town.
