Puqiakeqi lies in southern Xinjiang, in the belt of oases along the edge of the Tarim Basin near Hotan. From above, the settlement sits in a green, geometric landscape: fields divided by irrigation channels, straight tree-lined roads, and clusters of houses gathered along them. Life here depends on water carried down from the Kunlun Mountains to the south, and the map reflects that.
