Queimadas lies in the Agreste of Paraíba, the transition zone between the humid coastal belt and the dry sertão. It sits a short drive south of Campina Grande, and on the map the two are joined by the highway heading toward Pernambuco. The town itself is small and dense, with a clear centre and newer neighbourhoods spreading along the main approaches.
The countryside around it is open and rocky. Granite outcrops and boulder-strewn hills rise from the farmland, and the rocky landscape draws walkers from the wider Campina Grande area.
