Stoneham is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, about ten miles north of Boston. Its street map follows a familiar New England pattern. Main Street runs north to south through the centre, a town common sits near the middle, and residential streets curve away into neighbourhoods set on low, rocky hills.
To the south, the street grid stops abruptly at the Middlesex Fells Reservation, a large wooded area of trails, ridges and reservoirs.
