Temryuk lies on the Taman Peninsula in Krasnodar Krai, on the southern shore of Temryuk Bay in the Sea of Azov. The Kuban River flows past the town to its mouth close by. The surrounding land is a low mosaic of channels, lagoons and reed beds, and on a map the water outlines are almost as detailed as the streets.
The town centre follows a regular grid of blocks near the harbour, while the outskirts extend along roads toward the peninsula's villages and vineyards.
