Terdāl lies in Bagalkot district in northern Karnataka, on the dry, open country of the Deccan plateau. The Krishna river flows a short distance away. The town is known for its Jain heritage. Terdāl has long been associated with an old Jain temple, and that link gives it a significance beyond its size.
