Tongjiaxi is a town in Beibei District of Chongqing, north of the city centre, on the Jialing River. Like much of Chongqing, its map is shaped by relief. The river cuts through hilly country, and the town occupies land along its bank. Streets run parallel to the water, and newer districts rise onto the slopes above.
The Jialing is a major tributary of the Yangtze, which it joins in central Chongqing. Around Tongjiaxi it is a broad band on the map, lined with embankments and crossed by bridges.
