Victorias lies on the north-western coastal plain of Negros Occidental, facing the Guimaras Strait. On a map, the town centre is a compact grid near the coast. The land around it is laid out in long, regular cane fields separated by farm roads and drainage ditches that run down to the sea.
Sugar defines the place. The Victorias Milling Company, one of the largest sugar mills in the Philippines, occupies a big compound north of the town proper, with its own streets, housing and rail lines once used to carry cane.
