Wengen sits on a terrace in the Bernese Oberland, in the municipality of Lauterbrunnen, several hundred metres above the valley floor. Private cars cannot drive up to it. Visitors arrive by the rack railway that climbs from Lauterbrunnen and continues towards Kleine Scheidegg.
