Westerville lies just northeast of Columbus, Ohio, where the suburban street pattern meets the valley of Alum Creek. The creek winds through the city from north to south, lined with parks and trails, and the Hoover Reservoir lies just to the east as a long, narrow sheet of water. At the centre is Uptown, the historic core along State Street, a small grid of older blocks beside the campus of Otterbein University. Westerville has an unusual claim to fame.
