Aburi Map Poster & Print
Aburi sits on the Akuapem ridge in Ghana's Eastern Region, north of Accra. Because the town follows the contours of the hills, its roads rarely run straight. They curve along the ridge, fork down into valleys and climb back up, and the street map reads as a loose, organic network shaped by the slopes.
The town is best known for the Aburi Botanical Gardens, opened in 1890, whose green grounds form a distinct open space on the map. Aburi is also remembered for the 1967 meeting where Nigerian leaders tried to prevent civil war, the Aburi Accord. Its cooler hill climate has long made it a retreat from the coast.
