Old town core
The oldest part of the town is a close weave of narrow, irregular lanes. It is the densest and most intricate part of the print.

关于地图
Al-Hamdaniya Map Poster & Print
Al-Hamdaniya, also known as Bakhdida or Qaraqosh, lies on the Nineveh Plains southeast of Mosul in northern Iraq. The land around it is flat and farmed. On a map the town stands out as a compact, dense mass of streets, with roads and field boundaries fanning out across the plain.
It is one of the largest Syriac Christian towns in Iraq, and its large churches are central landmarks. The town was emptied during the conflict of 2014 to 2016, and since then many families have returned and rebuilt homes and churches.
An Al-Hamdaniya map poster shows the continuity of the town's street pattern: an irregular older core surrounded by more regular newer blocks. The whole thing is set in the geometry of cultivated land. For many people, having it on the wall carries a sense of return.

Nineveh Plains
Flat farmland surrounds the town on all sides. Field boundaries and farm tracks form a fine geometric pattern towards the edges of the map.
Church quarter
Large churches are the town's defining landmarks. The streets around them give the poster several distinct focal points within the dense centre.

为什么选Al-Hamdaniya
一张有意义的地图
For families from Qaraqosh, including those abroad, this map keeps the exact streets of home in view. It is often chosen as a gift that marks a return, a wedding or a new beginning.
The title can use either name of the town, with a subtitle and date of your choice and an editable coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Paper gives it a quiet, archival tone.
