Allapattah Map Poster & Print
Allapattah is a Miami neighbourhood northwest of downtown, between the airport and the Civic Center medical district. On the map it follows Miami's numbered street grid. Long, regular blocks run between Northwest avenues and streets, crossed by a few wider commercial corridors. Expressways and the curving Miami River frame the neighbourhood on the south and east.
The area has long been known for its wholesale produce market and small industrial buildings. In recent decades it has also become one of the main centres of Miami's Dominican community, which has earned it the nickname Little Santo Domingo. More recently, former warehouses have been turned into galleries and studios, including the Rubell Museum.
An Allapattah map poster is a study in city structure. The block grid is dense and even, and it is broken only by large warehouse lots, rail lines and the long ramps of the highways. The river gives the southern edge the one soft, winding line in an otherwise rectangular composition.

Northwest streets and avenues cross in a steady grid of long blocks. The pattern is very easy to read and shows off Miami's address system in its simplest form.
Warehouse district
Large rectangular lots of former warehouses and market sheds break up the residential grid. Many now hold galleries and studios, and they appear as broad pale blocks.
