The Tigris
The river runs past the town in broad bends. It is the strongest line on the map and the reason the town exists here.

关于地图
Aş Şuwayrah Map Poster & Print
Aş Şuwayrah lies on the Tigris River in Wasit Governorate, southeast of Baghdad. The land here is the flat alluvial plain of Mesopotamia. From above, the town gathers along the river, with a network of streets on its banks and irrigated farmland stretching out on both sides, crossed by canals and drainage channels.
Like many towns along the middle Tigris, Aş Şuwayrah developed as a local market and administrative centre for the surrounding agricultural district. The river remains the main organising element: roads follow its course, and cultivated fields depend on the water drawn from it.
An Aş Şuwayrah map poster combines the broad curve of the Tigris with the town's street pattern and the fine geometry of canals and field boundaries. It is a quiet, balanced image of a river town on one of the world's oldest cultivated landscapes.
