Central grid
Straight streets and square blocks spread out from the main plaza in a regular pattern. They give the centre of the map a crisp, even texture.

关于地图
Atuntaqui Map Poster & Print
Atuntaqui lies in the northern Ecuadorian Andes, in the province of Imbabura, between the cities of Ibarra and Otavalo. The town sits at high altitude in a broad valley. Its map shows a regular grid of blocks around a central square in the Spanish colonial tradition. At the edges the grid loosens into roads and smallholdings that run out across the farmland.
The town is best known for its textile and clothing industry. In the twentieth century the Imbabura textile factory was one of the largest in the country. After it closed, the building became a museum and cultural centre. Today Atuntaqui's many garment shops and its clothing fairs draw buyers from across Ecuador and beyond.
An Atuntaqui map poster shows how compact and orderly the centre is, with the Pan-American Highway and regional roads linking it to its neighbours. Imbabura's wider landscape of volcanoes and lakes lies beyond the edges of the sheet. The poster stays close to the town itself, where the even grain of the grid carries the composition.

Former textile factory
The large site of the old Imbabura factory, now a museum, stands out as a distinct block in the plan. It recalls the industry that shaped the town.
Valley roads
Regional roads and the Pan-American Highway connect Atuntaqui to Ibarra and Otavalo. These strong lines lead the eye out of the town and into the valley.

为什么选Atuntaqui
一张有意义的地图
Atuntaqui means something specific to people from Imbabura, to families connected with the textile trade and to Ecuadorians abroad who want a piece of home on the wall. Its plan is small, easy to read and clearly rooted in the Andean landscape around it.
