Lake shoreline
Lake Awasa borders the city to the west. Its smooth curve makes a strong, clean edge on the poster and sets the direction of many streets.

关于地图
Awasa Map Poster & Print
Awasa, also written Hawassa, lies in the Ethiopian Rift Valley on the eastern shore of the lake of the same name. From above, the shoreline forms the city's western edge. Wide avenues run inland from the water in a fairly regular pattern, and the grid is more open and spacious than in many older Ethiopian towns.
Awasa is a relatively young, planned city and serves as the capital of the Sidama Region. It is known for its lakeside setting, which draws visitors for the birdlife, fishing and the calm waterfront, and for its university, one of the larger ones in southern Ethiopia.
An Awasa map poster is shaped by that relationship between the town and the lake. The large, smooth expanse of water fills one side of the composition, the planned streets fill the other, and the long, gently curving shoreline stretches between them.

Planned avenues
Broad main roads divide the city into large, regular blocks. The layout is noticeably more open than in older, more organically grown towns.
Rift Valley setting
The city sits on the floor of the Rift Valley, and roads lead out across it to neighbouring towns in long, fairly straight lines.
