Yura River
The river curves through the valley and divides the town. Its bridges and banks give the poster a strong, flowing central line.

关于地图
Ayabe Map Poster & Print
Ayabe lies in the north of Kyoto Prefecture, in the hilly Tanba region, far from the tourist crowds of Kyoto city. The Yura River flows through the town, and the built-up area spreads along the valley floor on both banks. Forested hills close in on every side, so the map has a clear, contained shape.
The town has an unusual history. Gunze, the well-known Japanese textile company, was founded here in 1896 to develop silk production. Ayabe is also the headquarters of Oomoto, a religious movement founded in the town at the end of the nineteenth century. Both left traces in the town's layout, with large compounds among the ordinary streets.
An Ayabe map poster shows a Japanese provincial town with great clarity. The river's curve, the railway along the valley, the dense streets of the centre and the dark forested slopes all read cleanly in black and white. The composition has the quiet balance of a landscape print.

Valley town
Ayabe's streets fill the flat valley floor in a compact, dense pattern. They stand out clearly against the surrounding hills.
Forested hills
Wooded slopes rise on every side, reached by narrow mountain roads. On the map they form a quiet, textured frame around the town.

为什么选Ayabe
一张有意义的地图
Ayabe matters to people who grew up here, to Oomoto followers and to anyone who has discovered rural Kyoto. A map poster keeps the Yura valley present long after the visit or the move away.
Write the title in Japanese or English, add a subtitle and coordinates, and choose Classic, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download the six-size HD set for $9 or order a print on matte paper.
