关于地图
Baia Mare Map Poster & Print
Baia Mare lies in a basin in northern Romania, and from above the Săsar river is what organises it. The river runs east to west through the city, and the streets follow it in long parallel bands. The old centre sits on the north bank as a small cluster of tight blocks. Communist-era housing districts spread south across the flatter ground toward the railway.
The name means great mine, and mining shaped the town for centuries. Gold, silver and lead were worked in the hills around it, and the old centre grew around a square that is still watched over by Stephen's Tower, a medieval bell tower. The same mining legacy left the city with serious environmental problems, which it has spent recent decades cleaning up.
A Baia Mare map poster shows the two sides of the city clearly. To the north the street pattern thins out and breaks up as it climbs into the foothills, with roads winding up the valleys toward the Gutâi mountains. To the south the blocks are wider and more regular. The river sits between them and holds the composition together.

Old town square
A small, dense core of short streets on the north bank, built around the historic square and Stephen's Tower, where the city's medieval street plan still survives.
Northern foothills
On the northern edge the street grid gives way to roads that curve up into wooded valleys, marking the start of the volcanic ranges of Maramureş.

为什么选Baia Mare
一张有意义的地图
For people from Maramureş, this map puts the river, the old square and the roads toward the hills together on one sheet. It suits a hallway or a study, and it makes a quiet gift for anyone who grew up around the mining towns of the north.
You can personalise the title, the subtitle and the coordinates line, for example with a family name or a date. Then choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Each style gives the valley's lines a slightly different mood.
