Compound blocks
Walled family compounds fill the blocks, creating a dense and even pattern that covers much of the poster with fine detail.

关于地图
Bakoti Map Poster & Print
Bakoti lies in the urban area around Serrekunda in The Gambia, a short distance inland from the Atlantic coast. From above it is a tightly packed neighbourhood of family compounds divided by sandy lanes, with a few paved roads carrying traffic to the larger towns and markets nearby.
The pattern is dense and fairly regular, filling almost every open plot. Around it, the urban area continues in every direction, since Bakoti forms part of the largest built-up area in the country, stretching from the coast towards the capital, Banjul.
A Bakoti map poster captures an everyday corner of the Gambian coast rather than a famous sight. The texture of compounds and lanes fills the frame, and main roads stand out as firmer lines leading out towards the beaches, markets and the rest of the country.

Sandy lanes
Narrow lanes run between the compounds, forming a close network that shows how the neighbourhood grew plot by plot.
Coastal urban area
Bakoti belongs to the continuous built-up area around Serrekunda, so the map shows streets extending towards the Atlantic and the rest of the city.

为什么选Bakoti
一张有意义的地图
For Gambians at home and in the diaspora, Bakoti on the wall is a daily link to family, neighbours and familiar streets. The map shows the place as it is, clearly and without decoration.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with a family name or year, and keep or edit the coordinates. Paper gives the lanes a warm tone, while Noir makes the dense pattern shine against a dark ground.
