关于地图
Ballarat Map Poster & Print
Ballarat sits in the central highlands of Victoria, about 115 kilometres west of Melbourne. It grew rapidly after gold was found in 1851, and the gold-rush wealth shaped its layout: broad streets, generous blocks and a strong central axis along Sturt Street, with its wide central median of gardens and monuments.
Ballarat is also the site of the Eureka Stockade, the 1854 miners' rebellion often cited as a turning point in Australian democracy. On the western side of the city, Lake Wendouree forms a large, rounded shape surrounded by parkland and the botanical gardens, one of the most recognisable features on the map.
A Ballarat map poster shows the formal grid, the long straight line of Sturt Street and the lake to the west in one frame. With its Victorian proportions and open green spaces, it is a clean, confident city plan in black and white.

Lake Wendouree
West of the centre, the lake forms a large rounded shape ringed by roads and parkland. It gives the map its most distinctive feature.
Goldfields grid
The central streets follow a broad, regular grid laid out during the gold rush. Wide blocks and straight roads define the heart of the city.
