Bartley Green is a residential district on the south-western edge of Birmingham, where the city begins to meet the countryside of Worcestershire. On a map it is defined by postwar housing estates: crescents, closes and looping roads rather than long straight terraces. Green spaces break up the pattern, and the built-up area thins out toward farmland and hills.
