Medieval core
The oval old town, with its long central square and surviving stretches of wall, forms the tightest knot of streets on the map and still defines the town's shape.

关于地图
Beroun Map Poster & Print
Beroun sits on the Berounka river southwest of Prague, where the Litavka joins it. The historic centre is still easy to read from above. It is an oblong core around a long market square, traced by the line of the medieval walls, and two surviving town gates mark the old roads toward Prague and Plzeň.
Around that core the town spreads in layers. Nineteenth-century streets and railway land follow the river, housing estates climb the slopes, and the D5 motorway runs along the edge. Beyond lies the Bohemian Karst, a protected landscape of limestone ridges, quarries and caves whose wooded hollows frame the town on the map.
A Beroun map poster brings out the contrast between the compact walled centre and the winding river beside it. The Berounka loops through the valley in broad curves, and the town sits on its bank like a knot tied into a ribbon. It is a small place, but its outline is unusually clear.

Berounka river
The river winds through the valley in broad curves, meeting the Litavka at Beroun and giving the whole composition its strongest natural line.
Bohemian Karst
South of the town, the limestone ridges and valleys of the Bohemian Karst, home to the Koněprusy caves, appear as open, wooded ground between scattered villages.
