Bhimber Map Poster & Print
Bhimber sits in the far south of Azad Kashmir, where the first ridges of the Himalayan foothills rise from the plains of Punjab. From above, the town is a compact knot of streets and bazaars. Roads lead south toward the plains and north into hill country that grows more folded the further they go.
Seasonal watercourses cut through the area, and the town has grown along them and along its roads rather than on any formal grid. On a map this gives an organic outline: dense lanes at the centre, looser housing further out, and a clear sense of the point where flat land ends and the hills begin.
Bhimber lay on the route Mughal emperors took to the Kashmir valley, which is why it is sometimes called a gateway to Kashmir. A Bhimber map poster keeps the present-day town in focus, the web of lanes and roads that has grown along this old route, drawn in fine black lines.
