The Kelna river
The river runs along the edge of the town and gives the map its one strong curve, a natural line that the older part of Bhokardan has grown up beside.

关于地图
Bhokardan Map Poster & Print
Bhokardan sits in Jalna district in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra, on the banks of the Kelna river. From above it reads as a small, dense core of short, irregular lanes, with the river curving past one side and a handful of roads leaving town toward neighbouring villages and larger centres. The built-up area is modest, so the edges of the map quickly give way to open ground.
The town is identified with Bhogavardhana, a settlement named in early Buddhist sources, and archaeological excavations here have uncovered remains from around the Satavahana period. That long occupation is not obvious on a modern street plan, but it helps explain why the older lanes sit close to the river, where people have lived for a very long time on this part of the Deccan plateau.
A Bhokardan map poster keeps the drawing simple: the winding line of the river, the tight grain of the older streets, and the straighter roads that tie the town to the surrounding countryside. Without colour or labels crowding the frame, the proportions of a small river town become the subject, and the empty space around it carries as much weight as the streets themselves.

An old core
Close to the river the streets are short and irregular, the kind of plan that forms slowly over generations rather than being laid out in a single survey.
Roads into the plateau
A few longer roads leave the town in different directions, linking it to villages and district centres and giving the composition a clear, radiating structure.
