Bhongīr Map Poster & Print
Bhongīr, also written Bhuvanagiri, is the headquarters of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, east of Hyderabad on the road and railway toward Warangal. Its map is organised around one striking feature: a huge monolithic rock rising from the plain, around which the older lanes curl while newer streets extend along the highway and the railway line.
The rock carries Bhongir Fort, traditionally attributed to the Western Chalukya ruler Tribhuvanamalla Vikramaditya VI, from whom the town is said to take its name. Its rounded outline is visible even on a street map, a blank shape in the dense pattern. The temple town of Yadagirigutta lies a short distance away.
On a Bhongīr map poster, that contrast becomes the whole composition. The tight grain of the town presses against a smooth empty mass, roads bend to avoid it, and the long straight lines of transport run off toward Hyderabad.
